(2011) discovered that practicing gratitude is positively associated with higher levels of self-esteem and self-worth. For Black women, who often carry the weight of intersectional identities and unique stressors, nurturing self-esteem is vital.
Gratitude also fosters self-compassion. Neff (2003) found that gratitude is positively correlated with self-compassion, allowing individuals to be kinder and more forgiving to themselves in the face of stress and challenges.
